The Truth is Out There

If you know that tag line then you'll know this series. Today we received from Amazon all nine seasons of The X-Files. I was a huge fan of this series back in the 90's and watch every episode. When I saw that Amazon was selling the seasons for only $12.49 each I couldn't pass it up. I've always wanted the series but in the past they have been over $100 per season. So when I saw the deal I called up Harry and asked if he would be interested in having he entire series and he agreed that we should get them. Now will have to have an X-Files marathon.

Garage

Today I finally did what I have been wanting for do for the past month.. no it wasn't finish painting the master bathroom it was cleaning up the garage (my future Toy Room). I spent about four or five hours out there moving things around. I also pulled out our Xmas stuff so I can started hanging lights and decorating the house. Still not sure how we are going to remodel the garage with all the stuff in it.. but I'm sure will figure out something.

More DVD Screeners

This week I have gotten more DVD screeners.. this is one of the huge perks of being a member of the Producer's Guild of America. This time around I got a few that I actually want to see.. like Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince which I saw twice in the theater and comes out on DVD in a few weeks but I really loved that movie. I also got Coraline and 9. I have seen 9 and enjoyed it and really wanted to see Coraline. Still have a few more weeks hopefully I'll get some more that I am wanting to see.

Home Stuff

Today while Harry was outside cleaning up the drains we have on our hillside I was putting up the toilet and towel bar up. And of course it never goes as planned. I first stated with the toilet paper bar. I got everything ready and pre-drilled the holes with our new drill, I then started to screw the plate to the side of the cabinet and realized that the screws that came with the bar were so crappy that the drill and all it's power striped them. I then had one screw almost in all the way and the other one two-thirds of the way out. I then found better screws that we had lying around and screwed in the second support piece with no issue. I had to take a pair of pliers and slowly unscrew the one that was two-thirds of the way out. It was a slow process but I manage to get that screw out. I went to the other one and sure enough as my luck would have it.. the tip broke clean off leaving the screw stuck in the cabinet. In frustration I accidentally knocked over the drill and snapped the drill bit in half. I was not a happy camper. I persevered and slowly but surely I unscrewed the broke screw from the cabinet. Once I had that out I used two better screws and had the toilet bar up in no time.

My next adventure was putting up the towel bar. There were already holes form the previous towel bar but again as my luck would have it they were horizontal and of course our new towel bar had vertical holes so I have to first drill holes and then hammer in the drywall screw supports. It wasn't as bad as the toilet bar but it wasn't a cake walk.. in the end both bar are up and look very nice. What I thought would be a half hour job turned into a two hour pain in the butt... I love home ownership.

To amusingly yet convincingly dramatize the need for the Panasonic nose hair trimmer’s safety cutting system, creative billboards were built around actual electric poles and wires in Indonesia.

With thousands of sensory nerve fibers in human nostrils, trimming nose hair can be as risky as cutting live wires.

Computer Fixes

Today I had an interview scheduled for my podcast Knights of the Guild, but currently my computer is making so much noise that it would be impossible to record said interview. So I checked out my computer and realized it was the fan/power supply that was making all the noise. I swore I would not go out shopping today (being Black Friday) but I needed a quiet computer for tonight. We ventured out to Frys and as we expected traffic and people were everywhere. We did manage to find what we needed fairly quietly which is a shock since we normally walk around for hours looking for it. And the line wasn't bad at all.. it actually wasn't a bad shopping day.. since we had luck with Fry's we went to Target to check out high chairs and clothes for Kenobi for Christmas but in the end only picked up some guest bathroom items that we needed.

I got home manage to pull apart my computer and found out that the new power supply that we got didn't actually fit my computer.. meaning the plug was on the opposite side and I had to use metal shears and cut a hole in the back of the metal plating of my computer so I could plug it in. When all was said and done the new power supply worked and my computer was humming quietly. I'm not ready for the interview.

Kenobi

While at my aunts for Thanksgiving but brother, sister in law and nephew were there. Kenobi had been up all day and wasn't in a good mood and was crying alot. For some reason every time my mom would approach him he would get upset.. we all thought it was funny but mom.. no so much. Anyways I got to finally hold him. While I was holding him I started to bounce and he started to laugh.. we caught it on camera. He's so adorable...

Happy Thanksgiving

Today Harry and I went over to my Aunt Joyce's for Thanksgiving dinner. It was just the sisters of my mom's side of the family. Joyce, Carol (my mom) and Linda. It's funny because each sister had two boys. The picture above has the mom standing in front of their boys.

It was a fun time I haven't seen my cousin Dillon or Dwayne for over 10 years. It was nice catching up and it was also fun hanging with my Aunt Joyce. Dinner was fantastic, company was fun, we played games and chatted. All in all a very nice Thanksgiving.

Jury Summons

Barely a few months in the new house and I get a Jury Summons. I have been lucky over the years with these as I have never been called in. Funny thing is the start date is 06/30/2007.. like several years ago. I'm afraid if I call the number I will have to do Jury duty and my job doesn't pay for it so it would be some major financial hardship, which you can no longer claim. Not sure what I'm going to do.

Goodies in the Mail

Today at work wasn't as horrible as it was yesterday.. it was super busy but I was in a much better mood and was handling the stress much better. On a good note when I got home I had gotten a two packages.

First one was my Star Trek Christie's Auction House Catalogues. Christies had a HUGE Star Trek prop and costume auction a few years back and you could guy the catalogue with all the pictures and information about each item. It was going for $90 and I really wanted them but couldn't bring myself to spending that much. But a few days ago I found them on Ebay for only $20 for both + $5 for shipping. I couldn't pass them up.. so I got them. Can't wait to have some free time to look through them.

The second package were my new mic stands. I've always like the swing arm mic stands.. to me they seem more professional. So I spend an hour setting both of them up.. can't wait till Jenni and I do our next podcast.

Still haven't figured out what is wrong with my computer :(

New Computer????

Got up this morning and turned n my PC.. soon as it started there was this very loud noise coming from the processor. I immediately turned it off and restarted it and it seemed fine. About a half hour into surfing the net it started again. I didn't have time to investigate. I just turned it off and figured I would have to look into it more when I got home.

Not sure what the deal is yet but it's over five years old and it might be time to replace it. Now the question is do I get a PC or a Mac???

One of THOSE days

Today was one of those days. Every person who came into my office annoyed me. Everything they said rubbed me the wrong way. It didn't help that I was at work for 12 hours but it took all my will power not to go off (which if you know me takes an awful lot). I'm normally good at letting thing run off my back but some from reason I couldn't do that today..I guess we all have THOSE days. Hope tomorrow is better.

Household duties

Well today I had planned to finish painting the master bathroom.. but I had the hardest time motivating myself.. in the end we only hung blinds in the office and guest room, which was a tough job but we spent the rest of the day hanging out and watching TV.

It's funny going into the weekend you have so many plans but putting them into action is very tough, especially after spending months and months remodeling. I know this stuff needs to get done and I'm sure it will soon enough.. just not today.

Stuff Around the House

So much stuff still to do but it's the weekend and after a long work week it's hard to motivate myself to do anything. But of course I did do somethings. Here was my Saturday.

  • Had a skype call with my buddies from Treks in Sci Fi for their next podcast
  • Pulled out stuff (DVD's and accessories) from the garage and attempted to try and figure out what I was going to do next with it. I need to clean it up and try and make room for the contractor to start building my toy room. Harry and I also walked around the property and discussed all the yard work that needed done.. As for the garage I gave up, too overwhelmed.
  • Went and had lunch at Denny's
  • Went to Target and picked up some dog stuff along with a few accessories for the house.
  • Went to Bed Bath and Beyond and got a few more accessories for the house as well as some Xmas presents for Harry.
  • Went to Pet Smart to pick up a new dog lease for Daisy and also got a new playmate for her.
  • And finally went to Home Depot to pick up paint for our master bathroom which I am suppose to paint tomorrow.
Once I was home it was dark and I was exhausted from running around so I chilled. I tried several times to motivate myself to get up and do something but all I managed was pulling the DVD's out of boxes and setting them by the DVD racks. So I didn't do everything I wanted too.. but I did do some things. I know we have a life time of living here so we are in no rush but I would love to have a day when there is nothing to do on this house.. I'm sure the day will come but it seems so far away.

More Sceeners

Today I got more screeners.. that's one huge perk of being part of the PGA (Producer's Guild of America). So far I have gotten The Stoning of Soraya M., 500 Days of Summer, An Education, The Informant, Julie and Julia, Where the Wild Things Are, and today I got Up. I've also gotten a ton of invites to screenings but those are so much harder to attend because of scheduling. So screeners come on handy. Hopefully I'll get a for more before the end of the year.

Geek Heaven

Today I got half of my order of Blu Rays that I ordered from Amazon. I got Clone Wars Season 1 and of course The Clone Wars movie along with the new Star Trek. All in blu ray which will be cool since we don't have any blu ray discs other then Serenity (which I bought with the player to have at least one). Should be getting Harry Potter HBP and the Ultimate Year 1 and 2 Blu Rays in a few weeks.

V Episode Three

Just finished the 3rd episode and man is it getting good.

So many things.. first I love that the V traitors call themselves the 5th columnist like the original. Even though it wasn't a shocker it was revealed that Lisa is planning something for Tyler. And finding out that Lisa is actually Anna's daughter, didn't have a clue about that. I knew the gunman was going to be a V. I had no idea that the V doc was an 5th columnist.. that was a good OMG moment. I loved the scene with the four founding members of the Resistance meeting up in the church. I liked the people at the beginning giving confessions.. felt very real. I like that they revealed that over 600+ people died when the V's came. I also noticed that all the Captains of the 29 ships were male.. kind of like Anna being the Queen bee. So many things were revealed which made it such a fun episode and it just flew by. Can't wait for the fourth and finale episode this year..

Doctor Who: Waters of Mars

Just finished watching Doctor Who's Waters of Mars and in short it was kind of creepy, then tense, then sad and finally the OMG moments.

I think the doctor went way to far, the all powerful timelord that no one can stop. It was hard to see him get that way as that's so not how I see the doctor.. I wasn't liking him during his final speech.

I knew something was going to happen to the Captain.. it was all to easy. But I didn't expect her to kill herself, but like The Doctor said.. her death was a fixed point in time.. she would die that day and she did.

Hopefully her death will knock the Doctor back down to Earth. But I guess will see what happens in the next two parter Christmas/New Years specials. And then goodbye David Tennant and hello Matt Smith.

EYEBROWS

I have a confession.

Eyebrows matter more to me than almost anything.
I LOVE EYEBROWS

I even love the absence of eyebrows
(JYEAH WORK IT GIRRRL! WHOOOOOPPIIIII!!!)

They simply MAKE a face...
So I understand you are freaked out,
and there isn't much I can do about that,
because I do tend to elicit that reaction from people...

but you are probably also wondering about your own eyebrows.
Too thick? Too thin? Not arched enough? Not straight enough?
The fact is, the rule of thumb is generally:
the harder you work to CHANGE your eyebrows,
the worse they will fit your face

Here are a few celebrity brows I LOVE:

Here's my girl Natalie Portman, one of my favorite Jews,
proving that having well groomed eyebrows can
help you look great even in the weirdest circumstances (BALD?)
They just work on her face!
And the best part? They are natural and effortless looking!

Oh Eva Mendes...
your acting is mediocre, your body fabulous,
AND YOUR EYEBROWS INCREDIBLE!
Unorthodox, highly arched, and thick-
these eyebrows were not created by a stencil.
They work with their natural contours, and complement her face.
most excellent.
DAMN WOMAN.
Halle Berry...
Her face is already perfect, but her eyebrows just frost the cupcake.
Notice how they don't match?
Trying to force your eyebrows to be something they are not is a huge mistake.
These are finely arched and not very dense,
emphasizing her impossibly well sculpted features.
(plus, she named her daughter NAHLA)

Que Bonita! Hey Penelope, how do you say eyebrows in spanish?
Actually, how do you say perfectly dark and wonderfully shaped eyebrows in spanish?
I've nurtured a desire to wake up one day as Keira Knightley since I was 13-
when I saw Pirates of the Caribbean.
Could it have anything to do with the fact that she was snogging Orlando Bloom at age 17?
AU CONTRARE MY FRIENDS.
It is all about those amazingly boyish, thick eyebrows.
They are constantly morphing in shape,
but this picture shows them at their truest glory.
With features like that, skinny little bitch eyebrows would look hideous.

But, these women are simply born gorgeous right?
Their eyebrows don't change their face that much right?

Megan Fox. Widely believed by men to be the ideal woman.
Personally I think she looks like a wax sculpture.
This is post nose-job, pre-eye brow specialist.
from skank to sex queen, and its all in the eyebrows
K. Stew. Most likely doing R. Patt.
Ho F'Sho.
But thats irrelevant.
Here, her eyebrows are natural and work wonderfully on her face.
They are thin, so too much shaping would ruin them.
For example:
WTF? Whenever I see pictures of her now, I get mad.
What is going ON with her left eyebrow?
It looks like Spock!
Whoever did this better hope they don't meet me in a dark alley...

In conclusion: eyebrows DO make a difference.
Work with them, don't pull a K. Stew.
When in doubt, less is more.
Go natural.
Work it girl.

The Deck

Got up today all gung ho to get a ton of stuff done... well things didn't go quite as planned. In the morning I did a lot of podcast stuff. When Harry got up I went out back to clean up the deck area as it was really windy and we had debris all over the place. Halfway through that task Harry came out and helped out. We also ripped off all the blue liner that was covering the deck. We were happy to see that our deck isn't that bad.. a good sanding and staining and it should look awesome. We also did a few things around the outside of the house.

We watched a bit of TV and then decided to head into town and go grocery shopping and then pick up some lunch/dinner. Two hours later we were heading back home. We ate lunch/dinner and then watch a bit more TV. It was so difficult to motivate myself but I manage to get up and take some trash to the dumpster and then attempted to work on the garage which was what I wanted to do this weekend. Well that lasted 20 minutes as I realized I can't start this project so late in the day and that it's going to take an entire weekend to do. So I headed inside and just chilled out the rest of the night.

I really hate that it gets dark so early.. by 5:30pm it feels so late and my body checks out as soon as the sun goes down.

So we got a little bit of work done but far from what I had planned... hmmm maybe next weekend.
