Harry's 36th Birthday Dinner

It's become a tradition now to celebrate Harry's birthday at Outback Steakhouse. It's one of his favorite restaurants. So again this year friends and family gathered for this annual event. The service was good and the food was excellent. Last year Harry had the huge 20 oz Steak but this year he did Prime Rib. Friends Bruce, John, Moises, Mark and Tom along with my Dad joined in the party. Fun was had by all.. just keep John away from those Bloomin' Onions.

Harry's 36th Birthday

It's my favorite Austrian's 36th Birthday today. He's 36 years young and still as cute as ever. This morning I got up early and went to buy him some flowers, a dozen roses mixed with some summer flowers. I left them all arranged in a pretty vase on the dining table for him to see as soon as he came down stairs. I had to work but thought it would be nice to take him out of dinner after I got off. We were planning a trip to Outback Steak the following weekend for his Birthday Dinner with friends and family so we didn't want to do that again so he said how about Sizzler, we both really like Sizzler. So we ended up eating a late dinner at Sizzler, which was quite nice. All in all a quiet day for Harry's 36th Birthday. Oh BTW I am going to by Harry a new I Mac computer since he is tired of having his PC laptop.

The First Week of My New Job

Well after being out of work for the past two and a half months I was very excited to get back to work.. not for the work but for the money. This new job had some for the same people that I worked with on my previous job so I thought it would be a lot of fun. Well the people are great but things are starting off on shaky ground. I don't office and for that matter I don't even have a desk. We are in a very small building sharing it with another show done by the same production company and they have been there for a few weeks already so they have staked out all the good spots and I'm given the leftovers. So my job of setting up the office has been an hassle. Rooms that are mine still have stuff in them so I really can't do anything. I'm working on a system that is unfamiliar to me so that makes things hard. And I have the EP telling me that all these things need to get done ASAP but I don't have the resources. Anyways I'm glad it's the weekend even though I have to go in on Sunday for a bit. I'm hoping next week will come together a bit better. I get the rest of my rooms and systems and a few more people will start. Oh well it's work.

The Holiday on DVD

I love romantic comedies so when I saw previews to this movie I wanted to see it but I never got a round to, so I rented it first thing when it came out on DVD last week. I finally got to watch it and I was not disappointed. It was a very cute and fun romantic comedy. It was like two romantic comedies in one. Both stories were fun and entertaining. If you're looking for a fun romantic comedy then this movie is for you. Here's a synopsis.

Iris is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Across the globe, Amanda realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women, who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, find themselves in the exact same place. They meet online at a home exchange website and impulsively switch homes for the holiday. Iris moves into Amanda's L.A. house in sunny California as Amanda arrives in the snow covered English countryside. Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing either wants or expects: a new romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris' handsome brother Graham and Iris, with inspiration provided by legendary screenwriter Arthur, mends her heart when she meets film composer Miles.

The Dog Walking Dance

Sometimes you have the rouge dogs where the owner defy LA laws and allow their dogs to run leash-less. If we every run into one of those we take immediate action and look for the quickest escape route. Luckily in the few years that we have had Daisy I have only had to kick away one dog that was leash-less and came running at her as the owner screamed for her dog to come back. "They make leash laws for a reason. " I said to the owner but she just said her dog wouldn't hurt a fly and that she can control it. I laughed and told what a good job she is doing as I kicked at her dog a second time. The next time I saw this woman her dog was leash-less but as she saw me he quickly leashed her dog. All in all we have a pretty good group of people with dogs who know the rules of the Dog Walking Dance.

Every morning of everyday I walk the dog first thing after getting up. We live in a neighborhood with quite a few dogs and Daisy being the way she is we try and avoid those dogs. Many of the people do they same so everytime we go out it's like a dance. You start down the sidewalk and if you see another dog walking in the opposite direction one of you will cross the street to avoid the conflict. Then another dog will come towards you so you cross the street again. It's a back and forth kind of thing. Sometimes you run into trouble when you see dogs coming from both directions and there really is no where to go. But for the most part people are well verse in this dance and will stop to allow you to get by them with incident.

"Little" Brother Outing

After canceling last weekend because of my bad back I picked up my "little" and we went to Griffith Park to go hiking. We started on this really cool trail but about 1/3rd of the way on it he started to get freaked out. The trail is covered in trees and you could hear all kinds of things in the bushes. So instead I decided to take him on one of the fire trails.. this is an open trail but kind of windy. We barely got started when he got bored and tired and wanted to head back. So we got a little hiking in. After that we went to Jack in the Box and ate some lunch. It was a fun but short hike.

AFV Taping

Today Harry and I went to a taping of America's Funniest Home Videos. They film out in Manhattan Beach and we had to be there at 10:30am for a 12:00pm taping. We got there and found where to park. Next we stood in line for about an hour or so. They finally tell us if we need to go to the bathroom we need to go now because they don't take breaks while shooting. So I go then Harry goes and we wait some more. Harry has to go again and while he is gone they come and take us to outside the stage. Now I began to panic because Harry is still in the bathroom. After what felt like hours, but actually only a few minutes one of the pages comes escorting Harry back to the line. We now stood in front of the stage for a while then they took us through a metal detector where Harry was stopped and it kept going off so he kept taking stuff out of his pockets but he was still beeping. Finally they let him go even though he still beeped. By this time we fell four people back from where we were in line. Then go back outside and stand in another line waiting to go in. We finally get in and they start to seat you. It doesn't matter where you are in line they place people where they want them. So if you are pretty or cute or dressed real nice you get place in front or on an aisle. We sat on the third row back over on the left side of the stage. We had pretty good seats but I noticed that the people who took our spots when Harry got stuck at the metal detector were sitting in the second row next to the aisle and in a prefect spot to be on TV. Oh well.. nothing you can really do. We enjoyed the show. It was fun to see how they put it all together. Both Harry and I voted for the same video but it came in third. All in all a fun day.. a lot of waiting and standing but in the end it was fun.

Doctor's Visit

Today I had my first doctor’s visit in four years. Since losing my health benefits many years ago I have been without insurance. Now that I'm getting up there in age I figure it was time to bite the bullet and buy health insurance. I found a fairly good plan and made my first appointment. I wanted a gay doctor so I asked around and my friend Bruce gave me the name of his doctor, Dr. Anthony Mills. I went in for my physical and he checked me from head to toe, inside and out and all is well. Other then my weight, which I know I'm a little to heavy he says I'm in good shape. So all in all a good visit.

Got a Job... Finally

Finally after two and a half months of being off... I just got a new job. I'll be Post Production Supervisor on a new TV series called "First Class all the Way" it's for the Bravo network. Don't have a clue what it's about.. i'm just glad for the work. Yay me!!!!!!! I start March 19th and it runs till the end of July..

Getting Married.. Well Sort Of.

Well this March 11th marks the anniversary of when Harry answered my personal ad on Yahoo. Harry and I have been together for four years. We know we will be together for the rest of our lives so we decided that we want to make it official.. at least in our hearts. Next year will be our five year anniversary and we thought it would be a perfect time to have a Commitment Ceremony. We are still in the early planning stages, but right now it looks like it will happen in July or August 08. More details to come.

Paramount Ranch

Today Harry, Daisy and I went to Paramount Ranch. For those who don't know what this is. It is an old studio lot where they filmed quite a few westerns, as well as Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. They still film here and there but its more of a area that you can go hiking, have a picnic, walk around the remaining Western Town. It's a lot of fun. The other good thing about this place is that it allows dogs. Most State Parks won't allow dogs so it's great to have this place were we could go hiking with Daisy. Today we hiked for about an hour and a half. It was alot of fun, but of course I took a tumble down a hill and scraped up my arm and leg but all in all a fun time.
