Michelle Pfeiffer was born in Santa Ana, California,the 2ndof 4children ofRichard Pfeiffer,a heating and air conditioning contractor,and Donna,a homemaker.She has 1 elder brother,Rick,and 2younger sisters,Dedee Pfeiffer,a television and film actress, andLori Pfeiffer.Her father was of Dutch,German,and Irish descent,and her mother was of Swiss and Swedish ancestry.The family moved to MidwayCity,where Pfeiffer spent her childhood.She attendedFountainValley High School,graduating in1978.She worked as a check out girl atVons supermarket,and attendedGoldenWest College.After a short stint training to be a court stenographer,she decided upon an acting career. Pfeiffer won theMiss OrangeCounty beauty pageant in1978,and participated inMiss California the same year,finishing in 6th position.Following her participation in these pageants,she acquired an acting agent and began to audition for television and films.
